Old armor and weapons are how dragons were once hunted. |
Foreign parties enter the Blessed Lands either through magic or extreme travel. A thousand miles of mountains hems the city-cemetery in. Imagine hiking through the Himalayas for years and then finally discovering the ashen, melted carcass filled with the fire-souls of the defeated. It'd be an odd experience, to say the least.
So, foreign parties aren't out of the picture, but they're probably extremely detached from their homes. Strangers in a strange land are treated as new souls entering heaven by the people of the Dragon Wife City.
Native parties are easy enough. Characters with class levels are likely Gatherers. Gatherers can be any class, divine or magical or what have you. Scribes or paladins or clerics sent by the Handless Priests are probably neither handless nor fully trustworthy.
Sisters are Fighters unless they face off against dragons. Then the ritual sparks, their armor sheds, and their flesh becomes hard as diamond and as fireproof as the dragons themselves. Sisters travel with parties for the sole purpose of finding out first hand information nowhere dragons maybe, and to fulfill the prophecies passed down by the First, Second, and Third Borns.
Quests are easy enough to come up with.
- Some sort of resource needs to be gathered for the city.
- Dead-Fire Stories have lead the party to a place of great power.
- Dragons have been discovered nesting in a city.
- A city has shown signs of life. Something foul awaits there.
When I write an adventure/setting book for this I'll probably come up with a lot more. Just shittin' ideas out right now.
Working on Saga-play right now. Been studying the Norse Sagas, particulaly the Saga of the Volsungs. I think a new style of playing RPGs can be derived that'd be pretty fun. More on that in a future post.
