Its suffering will not end.

Gods, how they suffer. Radiance has claimed their lives. Cancers have swollen in their bodies and distended their limbs and they have died amongst the dunes. Their skin, stained by Radiant Auroras, glows green. The lume flows from their eyes as tears. They are sobbing. They are Irradiated Souls, and they want to reincarnate, but Tiamat's light has claimed them and they never will.

When a human dies from Radiance Poisoning, they have a 1-in-6 chance of raising a day later as an Irradiated Soul. They shamble across the dunes in search of death, but the Radiance keeps them alive and soon they forget everything but their lust. The sight of flesh enrages them. It is a reminder of the potential they once had and the purpose they were to fulfill. Burned Widows take care of them as a mother does children.

TZITZIMITL

Scraps of the liquid half-sun bleed into the Heaven Bless'd & Burned. There, they take on luminous forms of pure starlight. Radiance mutates them as it does all things, and now they are demons made of elemental radiation. Glimmers of sexual organs--breasts, phalluses, uteruses, and more--can be seen within the shifting spectrums of their bodies. Sometimes they speak. As starchildren, their words are omens and visions.

A group of Tzitzimitl are called a Cosm of Tzitzimeh. They congregate and hunt down Irradiated Souls, who they impale on petrified trees in Murdered Forests. There, they wait for starlight and radiance to melt away the rest of their flesh, creating yet another Tzitzimitl. Then, they hunt down Burned Widows, impregnate them with radiance, and watch as horribly mutated star dragons tear themselves free of their mothers and wreak havoc on the world. Everything this dragon consumes feeds the Cosm.

Tiamat despises the Tzitzimeh. Dragons hunt down their star-spawn kin and seek to destroy them on instinct alone. This is a story older than armageddon, and one that will not be told in this book.
